Onsite Events
For three generations the Sonnenberg family have been creating Diemersfontein moments on this iconic estate in Wellington.
What started as a family retreat, is today the home of the world-class Diemersfontein range of wines, countryside hospitality, backed by a story of upliftment and empowerment.
Join us on the 12th of October 2024 for the 3nd Diemersfontein Pinotage Trail Run.
Diemersfontein is well known for its Pinotage and each runner will receive a bottle of The Prodigy Pinotage with your entry to commemorate International Pinotage Day that will happen on the 12th of October. You will collect your wine on your way home as we would like you to support the farm on the day by buying a bottle or two at the farm instead of drinking the entry bottle at the venue. Take it home and enjoy it in the comfort of your home with your loved ones or friends!! It is included in your entry so if you a non drinker then give it to a friend that love their wine. A bottle of Diemersfontein is always a special gift!!
Join us for some good music and grab a snack after the run!
Should you wish to have a proper meal at the restaurant then make sure you book a table at 021 - 864 5050.
The 5km and 10km trail will meander through the estate with spectacular views while the 17km route will visit the adjacent farms. Route profiles will be posted soon.

The prodigy, by definition, refers to a young person with exceptional qualities or abilities. The same attributes that you will find in this joyous Pinotage wine. Unlike his older siblings, the original Diemersfontein’Coffee/Chocolate’ style Pinotage and the Diemersfontein Carpe Diem Reserve Pinotage, this wine exudes the unique, youthful and vibrant characteristics of this truly South African varietal. As the new kid on the block, the Prodigy emanate rich flavours of dark red fruit like mulberry and black berry on the nose followed by strawberry, cherry and plum on the palate all wrapped in a subtle hint of a well-balanced oak component. South African staples, Bobotie, Bunny Chow and Braai, all beg for a glass of Pinotage. Its versatility makes it a great partner with roast duck, lamb casseroles and even Chocolate soufflé. Again, by the definition of the word prodigy – an outstanding example of a particular quality.
